A human drama of life and death begins as thousands of oil workers are suddenly trapped on platforms across the North Sea. Sofia (Kristine Kujath Thorp) is a young entrepreneur who works with advanced underwater robots. She has to risk everything in a desperate battle against the clock, as it turns out that Sofia's boyfriend is trapped inside a broken platform deep below the sea surface.

Rebel Unit created all of the CGI underwater scenes, from the sinking lifeboat to the underwater robot searching through the broken platform for survivors. Rebel Unit won the Amanda Award for best visual effects in 2022 for The Burning Sea.
